FAWNING The image in the mirror is whatever is reflected into it by chance, by an indifferent sun that shines anywhere without enthusiastic consent that I am incapable of giving anyways. In narratives, mirrors betray the reflected, giving away what others would have to pay to see---except for vampires, who are nothing at all. To say one is a vampire is to accept a violence to which one might normally be indifferent. I am glowing because I didn't get a choice. (Amish Trivedi)
