THE ONE WHO BROKE AWAY, SUDDENLY where do we go and where do we come back from we bite our tails and go around in circles the sun is more brilliant than the day but can never break away from its orbit the countless stars are colder than the sun but can never break away from their orbits therefore we only go where we are going and we only know what we know and I was a body of nothing without home and temple and gruel and rice and I saw that if one breaks away just once there is no going back but there is that star, that shit falling out of the sky, tracing its brushstroke against the dark night, all too brief yet still making its mark, and I saw the ones who gave up, the ones who broke away, suddenly free (Kim Joong-shik, translated from Korean by Jack Jung)
