THE AWAKENING
Wasn't it like love? It was like
passion, not like ease or lethargy.
When the clock awoke me, I got up
and naked, still wore sleep for a little, still
breathed sleep, and slowly left it as one
leaves what he loves, sure to come back again,
sure it is there to return to. We need
to find the places where our life lies
and come there whether to love, to sleep,
to anything. We need also to bring
something with us, a present, something in mind.
