I HAVE LEARNED WITHOUT WANTING TO
I talked a great deal about
God. At first it causes distress,
for there is no one who knows himself as
well as he is known. Oh, were we but
completely detached! Love
is a thing most evident, which, as I
say, cannot be hidden: the soul
is inwardly burning.
I dared not be careless.
I cannot think what we are coming to---I
am not yet fifty. He will not allow this
soul to be lost.
. . . . . . . . . . . .
These last words, I think, were spoken because
I was so troubled.
