1923-2022)
from "THE SOLEMN LESSONS" 6 Like candlelight, from far off, seems still, never to notice its wavering red or orange, or like sea weight, where foam frolics, bubbling, toward the crest, or like heartbeat in tranquil breast, life effervesces, in silence, in secret, with another movement, like an unknown poet through the city he sings to, its movement is not one known by the crowds, it's not the star spinning, or the body rising or falling, rather it's likened to the lightwaves, the invisible soundwaves, infinitesimally joyful. Everything quivers like the lute string plucked and the papers pay no mind. Every beat is secret. (Translated by Katherine Hedeen)
